Brief

Furnware’s Kerry Leonard- Rogers was given a brief for the new staffroom to freshen the room and bring the unique environment surrounding Devonport – the sea, waves and the coastline – into the space.

Offering modern functionality and integrating café and soft seating spaces was important to the school which would give a welcoming area to the teaching staff

Solution

After a visit with the principal and another staff member, to a recently Furnware installed administration block, the school was better positioned to appreciate what was possible. It also allowed Kerry to gain a better understanding of Devonport’s needs and style.

Furnware provided a colour scheme in sand and ocean colours- soft taupe and blue. It was important to keep to the cooler colours as the staffroom faces north east and is therefore naturally warm.

A colour board was presented that showed the co ordination of fabrics and furniture.

This included:

Café tables with sand coloured café seats
Bar stool seating for the bench area.
Staff chairs in a patterned jacquard fabric and a complimentary plain blue fabric.
